We are excited to announce that Dr. Cadavious Jones, Dean of the Division of Science and Math and principal investigator, along with Dr. Sedrick Anderson, Assistant Professor of Biology and co-principal investigator, have successfully secured a $900,000 grant for their proposed project titled “Enhancement of Capacity in STEM at Rust College” from the U.S. Department of Education.
The project is aimed at increasing the participation of underrepresented minority students in STEM fields by collaborating with federal and community partners. This approach is beneficial as students see representation of themselves in future career paths.
A key part of the proposal is the creation of a unique environment and laboratory to remove social and emotional barriers faced by students working in crowded spaces. This dedicated space will provide participants with a supportive environment to excel in STEM disciplines.
Rust College remains committed to ensuring that all students have equitable access to the opportunities provided by this initiative, regardless of gender, race, national origin, color, disability, or age.
The leadership of Dr. Jones and Dr. Anderson marks an exciting step forward in Rust College’s mission to enhance STEM education and create opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. Congratulations to both on this remarkable achievement!
